Being a good writer means becoming a good speller! In order to become good at spelling we need to be sure that we are PRACTICING our spelling. Every week you will be given a list of 15 words. During Language Arts time, you will be able to practice for your spelling test by doing Word Work. Below are the options for you to choose from.
Word Work Tasks
1) Write words in alphabetical order (10 points) 2) Write words using a complete sentence (10 points) 3) Write the definition of each word defined by the dictionary (10 points) 4) Write a synonym and antonym for each word (10 points) 5) Write each word 5 times (10 points) 6) Create a word finder puzzle using all spelling words (10 points) 7) Create a clue to detect each word (eg. apple – red fruit) (10 points) 8) Find the value of each of my spelling words (10 points) 9) Place the words into the categories, noun, verb or adjective (10 points)
Each week you will fill out a form stating which tasks you have completed. The completed tasks should have your name and the date on them in clipped into the Word Work section of your binder. Every week you are responsible for earning a total of 50points Word Work tasks in order to gain full marks in your Word Work section.
